Understanding Addiction:A Holistic Approach
On my journey of spiritual restoration, I've embraced a compassionate and holistic approach to understanding and treating addiction. Dr. Gabor Maté's work, particularly through "In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters with Addiction," (2008) resonated deeply with me because it solidified what I experienced firsthand since beginning my own path of recovery in 1987. Addiction, in my experience, is far more than a behavioral issue—it's a complex interplay of biological, psychological, and social factors.
Compassionate Understanding
My approach revolves around deeply understanding the root causes of addiction, often rooted in early life experiences, trauma, and societal pressures. I approach addiction with empathy and non-judgment, creating a safe container where healing and spiritual restoration can flourish.
Holistic Treatment Modalities
This is why I brought so many practitioners to Soul Vision in addition to me. I have a passion for integrating diverse modalities, ranging from traditional therapies to alternative approaches like yoga, Ayurvedic Medicine, shamanic healing, improv, sacred medicine ceremonies, microdosing, Power of Touch, Restoration of Ancestral Trauma, Juicy Relating, Laughter as Medicine, Daoist Astrology Readings and sound-based therapies. Each modality is tailored to support individuals on their unique path to recovery.
Healing Through Connection
I place a strong emphasis on the power of human connection and community in healing addiction. This is why I created Soul Vision in 2012. I've seen firsthand how fostering a supportive environment where individuals can openly share their experiences and feel understood is essential to their journey.
Empowerment and Self-Discovery
Central to my approach is empowering individuals to reconnect with their authentic selves and uncover their inherent strengths and resilience. Through personalized recovery plans and ongoing support, I guide clients towards profound self-discovery and sustainable healing.
How This Approach Differs From the Disease Model
Root Causes Emphasis: I emphasize that addiction often stems from deep-seated issues such as early life experiences, trauma, and societal influences, rather than being solely a biological disease or genetic predisposition.
Holistic Approach: My practice integrates biological, psychological, and social factors, recognizing that effective treatment requires addressing all aspects of an individual's life and history, not just managing symptoms.
Empowerment and Compassion: My viewpoint promotes empathy and empowerment, seeing addiction as a coping mechanism rather than a moral failing or purely biological dysfunction. This perspective fosters a compassionate approach to recovery.
Self-Discovery and Healing: Unlike the disease model, which may focus on symptom management, my approach encourages deep self-discovery and healing, guiding individuals to reconnect with their true selves and fulfill their deeper needs.
In essence, my approach at Soul Vision moves beyond the traditional disease model of addiction, offering a more holistic, human-centered perspective that honors each individual's unique journey toward spiritual restoration and freedom from the bondage of self.
